Bishop Allen is an indie rock band out of Brooklyn, NY. Formed in 2003 by Harvard alums Justin Rice (vocals/keyboard) and Christian Rudder (strings) the band takes its name from a street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "The Broken String," released in July 2007, is the band's second album. The music is carried by Rice's vocals and unique combinations of instruments such as ukuleles, oboes, and banjos. Overall the album has a nice progression between tracks, balancing the band's tamer, more melodic songs with peppy, upbeat songs like Middle Management (used on the soundtrack of Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist). My personal favorites are Corazon, a bit of an indie ballad about an abandoned piano, The News From Your Bed,odd lyrics but a catchy beat, and Middle Management.
